The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences builds upon, and integrates, the activities of existing research centres which are recognised internationally as premier sites for scholarship in the humanities. Central to our collective endeavour are the questions of what it means to be human, and how to define, analyse and communicate the multifaceted aspects of the human condition in a changing world. Research and teaching encompasses a number of core disciplines in the Humanities: Art History, Classics and Ancient History, Drama, English, New Media Arts, Philosophy, Film, and Gender, Sexuality and Culture.

As humanities scholars, we value the process of discovery as much as the knowledge acquired. We believe in the value of intellectual pursuits and are committed to the aim of communicating in diverse ways to our various constituencies.

At the undergraduate level our staff provide an exciting research-led undergraduate program across a range of disciplines while our postgraduate program allows for both graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, diplomas, challenging coursework masters degrees as well as research only masters and PhD study.
